Sanary-sur-Mer is an old fishing village located around 12km from Toulon. The port itself was constructed and the harbour deepened in the middle 16th century.
The town itself has only recently developed into a tourist attraction since the 1980’s. It has a beautiful coastline with small beaches and unlike many small towns in the Mediterranean it is lively all year round. Sanary is more or less the sunniest town in France with only 61 days of rain on average per year. However, wind is gale force or higher on average 115 days per year, making this town an extremely popular attraction for windsurfers in the South of France.
