Our base is located on the island of Nosy Bé, nicknames “Fragrant Island” thanks to the thick scents of ylang-ylang, coffee, sugar cane and pepper crops that fill the air! Nosy Bé is a volcanic island and the fourth largest of the Malagasy islands. Its position to the northwest of Madagascar means it is well sheltered from the monsoons that come from the southeast. It is the perfect starting point for your private charter as it puts you in a perfect position to discover some of the smaller, but none the less beautiful, Malagasy islands aboard your luxury sailing yacht.
If you enjoy snorkeling and diving then you will not be disappointed with Nosy Bé; groupers, turtles, whale sharks, barracuda, gorgonian fans, crocodile fish, octopus, leopard sharks, dragon fish and manta rays all thrive in this area. Also if you are lucky you may also see humpback and sperm whales during July and August as they tend to migrate through the area.
Nosy Bé can be reached by plane as it has an international airport and from there it is around a 45 minute journey by taxi or mini bus (we can organise transfers for you). There is a small supermarket as well as a fruit and veg market about 25 minutes from the base for provisions before you set sail however take note that credit cards are not accepted in the shops but there are cash dispensers that accept Visa or Mastercard. The local currency is Ariary but Euros are accepted. The two main languages spoken in Madagascar are Sakalave (the local dialect) and French although English and German is also spoken throughout.
